Stacie and Matthew's New Year Oxford Wedding

Our first wedding of the year was for the lovely Stacie and Matthew. Although it was January it was a clear crisp day and the bride looked amazing!. The wedding took place at St Peter's College Oxford.

Stacie chose a green and white colour scheme for her wedding flowers. We created her bridal bouquet with white tulips, white roses, white ranunculus and bluplorum foliage which was bound in vintage lace ribbon with one of our keepsake vintage broaches.

Magical Garden themed wedding in Bath

We were delighted to be asked by Sarah Haywood , celebrity wedding planner and author of the Wedding Bible to design the flowers for the wedding of the lovely Leslie and Ben who were married in Bath followed by a reception at Lucknam Park.

Leslie chose a fabulous bouquet of deep red, velvety grandprix roses studded with tiny diamante pins and the stems wrapped in wedding dress fabric with a vintage broach detail. The bouquet matched Leslie's hair perfectly which was created by amazing hair and make up artist Claire Hanson .

Leslie and Ben's wedding blessing was in a beautiful church down the road from their reception venue Lucknam Park . the bride wanted to get married under an arch so we created this an arch from two 14ft birch tree's threaded with roses, lisianthus and hydrangea's. There were also matching trailing pew ends in soft dusky lilacs and pinks.

The theme was magical garden and half the tables had these amazing arrangements of vintage bird cages with lush wispy foliage, hydrangea's, lisianthus, roses and ammi majus. The bride and groom had a table for two complete with a very sweet french bird cage.

The other table centres were a real talking point, the garden tree idea was carried through to the tables with branches of oak and hornbeam surrounded with beautiful heads of hydrangeas in all shades of lilac and purple and threaded with roses.

All of these amazing photographs were taken by the very talented Barker Evans .We absolutely loved creating Leslie and Ben's wedding flowers and its so rewarding when we exceed our couples expectations!

Matthew, I was absolutely speechless when I entered the church, as the arch you had created was so beautiful, even more beautiful than I thought it would be!

I loved the variety of the centre pieces ( especially loved the vintage bird cages!) and was so pleased that everything was moved to perfect position in the marquee.

I will cherish my photo's even more as you created the perfect, whimsical ambiance with the flowers. thank you so much for all your hard work and for making my vision come alive!!!

A Relaxed Country Garden Style Wedding at Cripps Barn

It just created the most intimate and romantic atmosphere for our ceremony. We also loved the table displays, which provided the rustic and relaxed 'country-feel' we wanted. Thank you also for providing the flower-bracelets for the bridesmaids at such short notice; they thrilled! We were asked to style flowers for a clients annual Summer garden party using a white and green colour scheme and lots of vintage garden accessories

Vintage trugs were filled with bun moss and meadow flowers

The vintage tureens were stylish and reflected the host's passion for food and entertaining. The wild vintage style suited the beautiful cottage garden where the party was held

Kirtlington Park Summer Wedding

We absolutely love working at Kirtlington Park. This Grade 1 listed 18th century country house was the venue of one of our very first weddings 7 years ago and we still love talking about the wedding every time we see the Bride and Groom who are still regular customers.

Victoria and Simon chose Kirtlington Park for their wedding and reception back in July and we loved creating the wedding flowers for their special day.

Victoria loves flowers and wanted to welcome her guests on their view of the grand house with these classic green and white hydrangea welcome wreaths.

Two stylish urns overflowing in White Roses, Delphiniums, Hydrangeas and lots of Jasmin created a scented and stylish entrance whilst the Groom created his own stylish entrance in this classic sports car,

Victoria carried a colourful and scented bouquet of roses, jasmine, mint, veronica and lisianthus. and we loved creating this mantlepiece arrangement with lots of candles, hydrangea flowers and foliage in green and white to compliment the amazing portrait above and evoke a classical and romantic atmosphere to the ceremony room

We were absolutely delighted with the flowers you prepared for our wedding on October 1st. I knew we were kindred spirits when you offered a stressed 'party organiser' a delicious biscuit, as well as a much needed cuppa. And when I met your dog, the deal was sealed.

The burnt orange of the arrangements made the photographs. I had numerous compliments, and all the dinning table arrangements were snapped up when I offered them to the guests who made it to breakfast!

We love Notley Abbey. The former home of Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier, Notley Abbey has since been transformed into a stylish wedding venue whilst keeping its medieval charm and romance.

Emma and Simon's weeding and reception took place at Notley Abbey on a gorgeous summer day with the ceremony taking place outside in the sunshine followed by a wedding breakfast in the medieval barn.

We were delighted to provide the wedding flowers and to attend the wedding of Andrew and Charlene in August. Charlene carried a handtied bridal bouquet of Grand prix, Piano, and Tamango red roses.
Charlene looked stunning and is pictured here walking down the aisle with proud father Pascal.

The wedding breakfast and reception was held at The Coseners House on the River Thames in Abingdon with the brides family from France, Spain, and New Zealand all attending a very friendly and fun day.

Afternoon Tea Charity Demonstration

We were delighted to be asked to demonstrate fabulous floral designs at an afternoon tea charity event for a breast cancer charity researching early detection. It was a fantastic afternoon and the sun shone in the garden designed by Liz Nicholson from nicholson garden design who gave an interesting talk on the do's and donts of garden design

The audience enjoyed an amazing tea with lots of homemade cakes and scones. They were serenaded by Pervin Shahin on the harp.

Our fabulous summer strawberry arrangements were a real hit and everyone supported the charity by bidding on some amazing prizes and buying raffle tickets for a chance to win one of our fabulous creations.
The day was a huge success and we received this lovely note from Sarah Crisp who was the driving force behind the day.

Dearest Matthew and Gary,
I do not know how to begin to thank you both for your incredible generosity yesterday. You were the life and soul of the party and made it I know, a very special occasion for everybody who was there.
We have already raised £5000 and are promised further donations! so much is down to both of your efforts and truly wonderful flower arrangements. Cant wait to see the photos!

Cokethorpe School Wedding

Zoe and Nick chose classic green and white for their country wedding at the beautiful Cokethorpe School near Witney where Zoe is a teacher. Zoe carried a bridal bouquet of Akito roses, freesias, lissianthus, and stephanotis.

The Bridesmaids carried hand tied bouquets of white hydrangeas and akito roses.

For the table decorations we used dainty glass single stem vases to create simple but stunning centrepieces with a mixture of summer country garden flowers.

Hi Matthew,

I just wanted to thank you and all the team at Fabulous Flowers for the absolutely beautiful flowers for our wedding at Balliol Chapel on 21 May. My bouquet was far and away the most beautiful bouquet I have ever seen (or smelled!) - I kept it with me all day because I loved it so much, and only reluctantly left it behind when I went on honeymoon. The flowers in Balliol Chapel were also stunning and everyone commented on how lovely they were. I attach a few photos so you can see how everything looked on the day!

Magdalen College and Rhodes House Wedding Flowers

When we receive photos from weddings that we have provided flowers for some of them look so much fun that we wish we were guests on the big day.

Jayme and Peters wedding took place last September in Oxford University's Magdalen College Chapel.

Jayme choose an elegant white and green theme for her flowers and carried a hand tied bridal bouquet of Avalanche roses framed with eucalyptus.

The wedding reception was held at the stunning Rhodes House House in Oxford which we decorated with white roses freesias gladioli stocks and hydrangeas in tall displays

Such an amazing Royal occasion deserves a fabulous celebration and Fabulous Flowers in Abingdon put the flags and flowers out today to celebrate the marriage of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.

Our day started early with preparation of the flowers for a wedding in Oxford and a Tuscan themed 21st birthday party in Longworth before staff and customers joined us in our Abingdon shop to watch the wedding and drink bucks fizz.

The Fabulous Flowers Team all went Gaga last week when we participated in the BB and O area of NAFAS, Style by Nature Fashion Show. This was a real fashion show with a difference with all the fashion created from flowers and foliage. Our challenge for the show was to design an out fit for Lady Gaga.

Our Gaga inspired outfit used 300 Gerberas, Palm leaves and Guzmania plants, and check out those killer rose thorn heels.

Our fabulous model for the day was team member Grace who did the most amazing job on the catwalk and she can pull one mean poker face.

A Crazy Bear Wedding

Back in January of this year we provided wedding flowers for the wedding of Camille and James wedding at The Crazy Bear in Stadhampton, Oxfordshire.

The theme for the wedding was vintage Hollywood glamour and we used rich tones of plum red and purple for the flowers.

The wedding breakfast took place in glamorous permanent marquee at the Crazy Bear where we used lots of tea lights on the mirrored tabletops to bring warmth to a winters day.

Following the wedding we received this lovely email from the the bride and groom

Dear Matthew, James and I would like to thank you for the beautiful flowers you created for our wedding. I couldn't have imagined a nicer display and my bouquet was stunning! You really understood what we wanted to achieve and you exceeded our expectations.

We loved Simon and Francesca's wedding at Ardington House near Wantage last year mainly for their vintage ice cream colour scheme of pink, lilac, peach, and chocolate.

Francesca carried a hand tied bridal bouquet of roses, calla lilies, lisianthus
, wax flowers, and herbs.

The wedding took place in Ardington village church followed by a reception close by in the gardens of Ardington House.

Green and White Wedding at Blenheim Palace

We really love these photos taken by the fabulous Barker Evans Photography from Bo and Quinnie's wedding at Blenheim Palace last year.

The bride carried a classic teardrop bouquet of roses, freesias, and dendrobium orchids which complimented her beautiful dress perfectly.

A Fabulous Flora Demonstration in aid of Against Breast Cancer

Our nominated charity for 2010 was Abingdon based Against Breast Cancer and the highlight of our fund raising events was our Fabulous Flora Demonstration in November at Abingdon School who kindly lent us their theatre for the show.

A big thank you for everyone who attended and helped us raise a large amount for the charity and for all the lovely feedback we have had. Also a big Thank you to The Cup Cake Baker ,Rosie's Tearooms, and Peachcroft Farm Shop for donating lots of gorgeous and delicious cakes.

Downton Abbey AKA Highclere Castle

We have become big fans of Downton Abbey on a Sunday evening and love seeing the filming at Highclere Castle where we have created flowers for many weddings at this stunning venue.

Look out for this statue which is regularly with the actors making their entrance although we are more use to seeing it being used for the entrance of the bride

The only thing to upstage the dramatic fireworks in this drama are the real ones used to celebrate the end of a fabulous wedding day.

Ardington House Wedding

Back in July we provided wedding flowers at Ardington House near Wantage for the wedding of Rhiarn and Dave. We have created flowers for many weddings at Ardington House but this one was extra special as Rhiarn is a flower lover and friend.

Rhiarn and Dave Chose a red and pink colour theme for their flowers and we incorporated strawberries into the table designs to add a little fabulousness.

Following the wedding breakfast in the house we transferred the table decorations to the marquee which had been transformed into a swanky nightclub by Will and his team from Anniversary Marquees.

Sorry it has taken us so long to get in touch about the flowers you did for our wedding on 24^th July; we've been in a mad whirl of moving house and building work since we got back from honeymoon!

For Jenny and Jame's wedding at Eynsham Hall near Witney we used lots of orchids, butterflies and lanterns which worked perfectly for their Chinese/English fusion wedding.

We have worked lots at Eynsham Hall over the past 7 years and we have been fortunate to have been able to design many unique styles for our clients such as a wacky Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theme to very elegant and stylish green and white designs and lots of lovely country garden styles and we are always excited by new challenges at this beautiful venue.

Orange Wedding near Bath

We recently had the pleasure of working with the lovely Isobel Lamplough on a wedding in Monkton Combe near Bath.

Coming from South Africa, Anjela chose a bright orange colour scheme for the wedding flower and the bridesmaid's dresses.

The wedding ceremony was held in Monkton Combe Church followed by a reception in an amazing Marquee in the grounds of Monton Combe School.

And the tropical orange theme continued with these bird of paradise and gerbera and rose vases for the Table decorations.

Black and White Birthday Party Flowers

In June we provided flowers for a large Black Tie Birthday Party which was organised by Gavin Parkhouse Events. The clients brief was that she did not want the flowers to look like wedding flowers and as the party was for twin boys she did not want the flowers to look feminine

Fabulous Spring Country Wedding

The Fabulous Flowers Team recently worked with Isobel Weddings http://www.isobelweddings.com/ on this stunning Spring woodland, humanist wedding in Warwickshire.

The Bride carried a fabulous bouquet of flowering rosemary, ivory ranuculus, anemones, hellebores, tulips, viburnum, and eryngium, wrapped in variegated ivy.

For the table decorations we wrapped terracotta flower pots in rosemary and moss with massed arrangements of hyacinths, tulips, ranunculus, eryngium, and cyclamen plants.

Our brief was to design a hand tied wedding bouquet and a low table centre using mixed colours so we came up with a clashing mixture of bright pinks and oranges that combined cherry brandy roses, nerines, wax flower, and shocking pink gerberas.

Lains Barn Wedding Wantage

Back in August we were at Lains Barn near Wantage where we provided the wedding flowers for Annmarie and James wedding. The flowers were a Scottish and English fusion with white roses, eryngium thistles, and lissianthus mixed with singapore orchids and alliums to provide a stunning purple colour.

For the table decorations we used high and low designs to provide contrast and we used small led lights to glow from inside the arrangements when the barn got darker later in the day.

The wedding was expertly co-ordinated on the day by Pippa of Cloud Ten Events.

We were delighted to receive this amazing Thank you from the happy couple and really enjoyed being a part of their special day. Annmarie loved her bouquet so much that instead of throwing it she broke tradition and had it preserved for every by Precious Petals.

Outdoor Wedding at Ardington House

Ardington House nr Wantage has been a extremely popular venue for our brides and grooms this year.

The lovely temple on the island is licensed for civil ceremonies which allows you to get married outside whilst keeping within English law which states that licensed wedding venues must be under the roof of a permanent structure.

Charlotte and John's wedding took place at Ardington House in August and they were very lucky with the weather allowing them to get married on the island.

Nether Winchendon House Wedding

As promised in a previous post here are some fabulous pictures from Sarah and Robs wedding on the 1st August. Two years ago we provided wedding flowers for Sarah's sister's wedding and were delighted that Sarah chose us as the florist for her special day. Sarah carried a handtied bridal bouquet of Blue Curiosa Roses, Pink Peonies, lisianthus and fresh lavender, mint, and rosemary.

Barbara carried a Carmen rose bridal bouquet with a modern twig and feather trail to compliment her Vivian Westwood dress.

We often provide wedding flowers at Le Manoir and it was fun to create such a modern look in such a stylish setting. The mantle design consisted of groupings of flowers in antique glass bottles and for the table designs we used glass mirror cubes with roses and Gloriosa Lillies attached to steel grass towers.

We would like to thank Barbara and John for choosing us to provide the floristry for their special day and we were delighted to receive a call from them on the way to their honeymoon destination to say how much they enjoyed their wedding day and the Fabulous Flowers.

Saturday 1st August saw us at Nether Winchendon House, which is a unique strawberry hill gothic medieval manor house set in 7 acres of interesting gardens. The reception was held in a stylish marquee with a Lavender theme, including wall-hung lavender wreaths and stylish punch bowls of Hydrangea, lilac roses, stunning scented stocks rosemary and lavender. We transformed the delightful country church of upper Winchendon into a picture of province with numerous butterfly lavenders in terracotta pots and lots of hurricane lanterns
It was so nice to be invited to design the wedding flowers for Sarah after designing her sisters wedding flowers we 2 years ago.

In contrast we also created amazing flowers for Ann Marie at Laines Barn. The wedding had a contemporary feel with lots of mood lighting, shocking pink and Cadbury purple. For drama we designed tall arrangements of Singapore orchids, purple lisianthus, purple hydrangea and white roses for the English groom and blue thistles for the Scottish bride. We filled the glass vases with pink gel and single fairy lights, which provided a modern style in a rustic setting. On delivering the bouquets to the bride’s room we received instant feedback with a round of applause from the bridal party. On Sunday we received the most amazing feedback from both brides with Ann Marie and her Mum Stating that the flowers were the most stunning flowers they had ever seen and a call from Sarah saying how wonderful the flowers were.

What A Week

We have had exciting and memorable week at Fabulous Flowers starting on Wednesday when we provided flower arrangements for The Oxford University's Vice Chancellors Circle conference at Rhodes House. We created stunning blue and white vase arrangements containing delphiniums and eryngium and overflowing with fully open white peonies which provided an amazing scent.

On Saturday we provided wedding flowers at Notley Abbey and Eynsham Hall, two spectacular venues and then on Saturday evening we created some spectacular masculine arrangements for a male dominated medical dinner in the Orangery at Blenheim Palace.

These photos are of flowers we provided for a wedding last year that was planned by Sarah and her team. The wedding ceremony was at Mary Magdalene Church, Oxford followed by a reception at Kingston Bagpuize House. The brides bouquet was full of the most gorgeous English grown country roses.

We love getting pictures back from our Brides and Grooms. These are from a wedding that we provided wedding flowers for last December. The wedding was at St Giles Church in Oxford and the reception was held just across the road at Green College.

The Bride carried a hand tied sheath of Cherry Brandy roses, Lisianthus and soft ruskus foliage.

Green and White Wedding Flowers at Eynsham Hall

Here are some photo from Sam and Tony's wedding at Eynsham Hall. Eynsham Hall is a stunning Jacobean style mansion set within the 3000 acre Eynsham Park Estate 12 miles from Oxford.

The wedding breakfast was held in the Green Room with the green and white flower scheme complementing the room perfectly. We used high and low flower arrangements on alternate tables to give interest at different levels.

For favours we used Oak tree saplings in glass cubes for the male guests and lily of the valley plants for the female guests to provide a long lasting memory of the special day,

The bride carried a trailing bouquet of Phalanopsis orchids , Viburnum and roses and the Bridesmaids carried green and white hand tied bouquets.

A big Congratulations to Helen and Roger on their Wedding at Notley Abbey on Saturday and to Libby and Jonathan who were married at Horspath Church followed by a reception at the Oxford Thames Four Pillars Hotel. Both couples were lucky to have the most amazing weather for a spring wedding and we hope to feature some pictures at a later date.
